Talk me into a 45-70. :) I can get a blued one with pallet wood and sights, New for 225.00 OTD. I thought about converting it to a smokeless muzzleloader. This one is a Gardner gun. Help me deside. ;D

Buy it, wheather you make the conversion or not, you'll love it.  Something to be said for that big chunk of lead, going slow and going deep or through things.

Is that a local gun store or a national price? Been keeping my eye out for one myself.

The simple solution is to buy two and convert one to ML ;)

No need, you'll talk yourself into one.  Too late, you already did!

Sounds like you've already talked yourself into it. I started with 1 and now have 3
Sounds like it's catching, I just picked up my third one. ;D

Haven't got a Handi in 45/70 but have one in a Shiloh, and one in a rollingblock, and will have a Handi 45/70 ASAICAI, never pass on a 45/70. I cast all my bullets, and have even been making my own Black Powder CIA method, most fun I have had in years. Buy it, shoot it, enjoy it.

Hello from the Great State of Georgia,

I will make this very simple for you. My 45/70 is box stock. I put on a used scope I already had. Total invested is $200. My handloads are a 350 gr. JSP, leaving around 1750fps. This rifle will produce 3 shot groups under an inch as long as you care to shoot it. What else could someone really ask for. As far as turning it into a black powder shooter, to each his own, BUT, with performance capable with a good hard hittind smokeless load, I personally see no reason to change a thing. Get one and you will not regret it. I have posted these pics before, but this should be reason enough to convince you that you are about to experience one of the most fun and satisfying guns you could ever own. All this for less than $250 ? What are you waiting on ? Hurry up and get it so you can post your results !!! Have a great day.

I've decided not to convert it to a smokeless muzzleloader, this thing is just to cool the way it is. Why did I wait so long to join the 45-70 club ? ;D
