2 Ruger rimfires

My Father sent me ( through a licensed dealer...) 2 Rugers.The first is his MK1 serial # 16-905xx and the 2nd was my recently departed Uncle's 3 screw ( unconverted) Single Six( # 21-126xx) along with the magnum cylinder. I'm looking foward to using these 2 and they are my first Rugers. The finish on both pistols is 100% and both have very good triggers.Just curious, but does anyone make steel grip frames for the single six? Of course the aluminum is fully functional, but the anodizing will wear and I'd really like to preserve the finish as much as possible. Also, does anyone make relpacement adjustable sights for this model. I'd like to try hunting with her and am alittle concerned about making any necessary elevation changes. Thanks!

I'm really not sure about either question....my suggestion would be check with Ruger about the sight....they should be able to fix you up with another sight.  And you might try Brownelles about the grip-frame and maybe the sight there also.  good luck

A lot of guys simply remove the black anodizing and go for a two toned appearance.  There are several coatings to use on the aluminum to keep it from corroding without the anodizing.

Does the Single Six have a flat top receiver and a drift adjustable rear sight? If so, don't mess it up by trying to machine for a fully adjustable one. Enjoy it for what it is.
On the other hand, if the rear sight is fully adjustable for windage and elevation, original equipment replacement rear sights are available from Ruger at a modest cost. Aftermarket all-steel rear sights are also available from Bowen Classic Arms for about $90. Millett also made an alumunum after market sight, but personally, I don't like them. The Ruger fully adjustable sights are quite serviceable for all but the most demanding target shooters.
Unfinished steel gripframes are available from Ruger, Brownells and sometimes Midway. Lots of unnecessary cost for a Single Six, IMO.

Are you really going to be treating it so badly that you are going to mess up the original grip frame finish?
Some of the best advise I ever got was to use (whatever) for a year before making any changes. Sometimes what you want and what you think you want aint neccessarily the same thing.
