This morning we had 8" of new snow. I spent an hour plowing the drive. Went down and plowed the neighbor's drive after that. Went to the store, stopped for lunch, came home to 6 more inches. It had quite snowing so I plowed again, only took 45 minutes this time. Came in and visited with a neighbor that came over. We sat and chatted, drank a beer, looked over some plans he is making up for a garage and apartment. When he left I went to the door with him and it was snowing so hard we could not see his truck in my drive. Walked to his truck with him and there was 4 more inches on my drive. Came inside and turned the radio on. We are under a winter storm watch. 13 to 16 more inches expected. I'm going to wait a while before plowing again, but I don't want to wait till it gets over 10 inches, it gets too hard to move. If it's under 10 inches I can run down the drive at about 10 to 15 MPH and throw it back into the woods instead of making a berm.
LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW. We have an 80 mile snowmachine trip planned for this weekend. Just looked out and it's really coming down out there. Unlike down south, when we get snow, it's here till breakup in April. This is on top of all that old dirty snow we have had laying around.
Looks like everyone in my subdivision called in sick this morning. I broke trail out to the main road at about noon. Sky left at 1PM, he called saying people are off in the ditches all the way into Fairbanks. He got to the university OK himself. He said he is not looking forward to coming home this evening. Not that he would have trouble driving in this deep snow, it's the other people he is afraid of.
