Muddly it has been a good hobby. Been able to spend just a few hundred dollars for materials and keep myself cheerfully busy for months....Now I want to get stuff together and start cowboy action shooting..I bought the stuff to start reloading the quantities of ammo needed for the sport and am working on building a Winchester 1873 takedown /switchbarrel rifle with barrels for .45 Colt and .44-40 ....Take me about 6 months to build that one gun..
.
The Marlin model 60....The backstory is that I gave my old friend 110% of new retail price for his old Marlin 60 he wanted to sell..I overpaid to give him his price, he needed the money ..But the old gun with its anodized aluminum receiver and squirrel pressed into the birch stock just was constantly a challenge to me- I look at it and think I could build one that is a bit nicer.. And eventually I did...It has an original Marlin microgroove barrel ...Long and a bit heavy trigger pull but really does print a good target group...They are real good rifles off the shelf but concessions have been made in order to sell cheap...

I have built a few pretty nice guns but none are worth squabbling over yet- nothing perfect. I am pretty good with the machines but gunsmithing is whole 'nuther challenge..I still have a whole lot to learn. But I do appreciate the compliments.
