Mrs. The Librarian and I are looking ahead a few years to when we retire and we're having some difficulty finding good options related to health insurance and health care. Can you help get us pointed in the right direction, like maybe recommending a good book or other source of good information?  We'll be 60-ish, so we won't have Medicare or Medicaid for several years until we're eligible.

Thanks. Appreciate it!

At the rate things are going, we'll be lucky if there is any health care system left at all in this country.  But, barring that happening, in many cases, you are allowed to continue with your health care insurance that you have from your place of employment (COBRA) if you have such.  Of course you might have to pick up the entire premium if your work doesn't provide for extended coverage after retirement.  Otherwise you're on your own to find some kind of insurance, or just go naked until you reach Medicare age.  You might also look into the medical-health care savings plan.

If you are impoverished--no problem; you probably qualify for Medicaid.  I have talked to people who have moved to another country where they say health care is cheap.  And then there is always the Lotto.

I was either lucky, or prudent; my employer covered me from the time I retired (at 59) until Medicare kicked in.

All you have to do is talk to an illegal. They are taught at the border what to do. When you want a good check up just report to a near hospital and tell them you have chest pains and other pains, they will give you the best checkup and fix you can get in the world.
My brother gets the same care I do and I have insurance, he dont, by doing the same thing.
When the illegals need an exam for work they go and do the same thing, take the paper work and start work. All on your dime.
When the clown is through none will have it.
