Does Remington use a magnum frame for rem700 7 & 300 mags?

Are the Rem 700 magnums built ona different frame than the standard long action rem 700?
 
I am considering buying a used and neglected remington 700 and rebarreling. I would like a 7 mag or 7 STW but a 300 won't hurt my feelings. I see barrels in mag calibers all the time on auctions so acquiring one would not be the issue.

There two action lengths- long 30-06 and magnum and the other for the 308-223 cartridges. The super short and others use a different action. The differences are in the magazine boxes..and bolt faces..

I understand the ctg lengths
Short action is based on 308 case and standard action is based on 30-06.
The standard action (sometimes called long) will fit all of the original short mags 264Win, 7mm Rem mag, 300 Win, and 338 Win
But the 375 H&H is a lot longer than the 30-06 case.
How do you get the 375H&H model 700s without a Magnum action? 
 
There has to be a magnum action that can hold the 375H&H and the off shoots like 8mm Rem Mag, 7mm STW, 300 H&H and 300 WBY.

The long action has a 3.6" magazine box. Excessively long for a 30-06, but perfect for a 375 H&H! Only difference is the bolt face.

You will need to open the bolt's face, ream a new chamber and headspace it, plus modify the magazine follower to accomodate the cartridge you select.  Not sure if the extractor comes into play.  I've only changed one rifle and it was from an 06 to 280AI.  No bolt work was required.
A 7mm Rem mag or 300 Win mag might offer a more simple magazine modification than the longer 8mm Mag cases, but I just don't know.  Never done any work on a magazine follower.
Might as well lap you bolt lugs and true the action while you are at it.  Same goes for bedding.  If your custom barrel is of a larger diameter, you may have some stock channel work to do also.  You'll want to cut the stock back and add a recoil pad.

New 700s are so cheap, you'd be loosing money anyway.

I always reccomend against altering the Remington bolt face as replacing the extractor is very difficult. Sometimes a Magnum bolt can be located but as already said it's easier to just get a differect rifle to start with.

So the long action 700 is a magnum action and anything with the .530 bolt face can be turned into something else.
You some times see neglected 700 rifles that the barrel is rusted badly, or bent and can be purchased cheaply and rebarreled.
It also means that a 300 WMag can be re chambered to 300 Wby. and 7mm Rem mag can be made into a 7mmSTW.

Yes with the caveat that the bolt faces are really not easily altered. The short action is also home to the 222 rem andd 223 family of cartridges. They of course have a much smaller bolt face than the 308-243 family..  I also don't know what length is used for the SuperShort mags and such... Also there is another action made by Remington the M7. It's really a compacted version of the M700 but many parts are unique..
