When I was 13 here in California, I went to our local hardware store and bought 22 single shot with ammo and walked out with it that day. Now at 63 I have to wait 14 days to the minute to pick up a gun I bought. What country or what world are we in?
Well, the 14 day wait is your state, county or city, not Big Brother. The world we live in now is a very dangerous one, and that is the root why some localities (like yours) delay possession. Makes living in a cash and carry state, and especially a very pro gun county and city like I do among the best of the best for shooters.
BTW, we're the same age, and I can still well remember when first stationed in the military in The Republik of CA San Dog in the 60's, where it could be hard to even buy recreational 22 rimfire ammo (even in uniform) because I was 18 (under their required 21). But it was OK that I could serve my country with all the dangers it posed, and even shoot/kill people despite my age (Vietnam). Still remember a snot nosed clerk in a San Dog sporting goods store I went over the counter for in uniform when he wouldn't sell me ammo, and the manager there that sold me all the ammo I wanted after chastising what was left of the clerk. Those were the days before your name, ID# and purchase was recorded in CA though, and most civilian business owners in San Dog, San Francisco, etc supported servicemen no matter what kind of business.
