Elmer Keith book?I do

I don't know if this is the place to put this but, I was looking for Elmer Keith's book" Hell,I was there." The only places I have found it have been Amazon and Ebay but they want anywhere from $97.00 to $160.00!! I was wondering if there was a place I could get the book for a reasonable price, and why is the book so expensive?

Didn't now it was that high.
I have one and it's a good read.
Think I'll get it out again soon. ;)
 
I have two copies actually.
The first copy had a printing problem.
About a third of the way thru it, it repeats. :o
 
Check your used book shops.
That's where I found both on mine.
About $20 each I memory serves me correctly.

Sixguns was another of his books. I got a copy of sixguns to read from the library but they could not find a copy of hell I was there. I loaned my copy to a friend and never got it back. Try a library if you just want to read it. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D

Ethan, I sold all my Elmer Keith books here on GBO, about a year or so ago, Hell I Was There, Keith on Shotguns, Sixguns etc. I sold them to a GBO member, so you may want to post a WTB ad in the general classified ads.

I got my copy of HIWT and Sixguns here about a year and a half ago. After I read HIWT I loaned it to a teacher at school. She has had it for over a year. On Sunday at the local flea market I found a copy for $3; I don't think the guy knew what it was worth. Today I sold it to the teacher for $20. Tomorrow I'll get back my original copy, I hope. The books are out there. Good luck finding it.

You guys just opened up an old wound . Several years ago I loaned a copy to my brother because he was living in the area where Elmer lived a lot of his life. He has since moved a time or two and I have a sneaky suspicion his wife offed it somewhere along the line. The last time I asked him he said he thought he had it around somewhere. I wonder if something like that would be available on those new on-line book devices some people have?

I look for those bks every time we go to a goodwill or salvation army store, flea mkts, garage sales, etc, but no luck so far. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

A copy just sold on eBay for $90 and someone else has a copy for $100. They're going up in price. And someone has one of the Skeeter Skelton books for $135. Too much!!!

Same reason gasoline is so expensive. Supply vs demand.
