My new baby... ROA
« on: March 05, 2012, 05:58:51 PM »
Limited edition high polished s/s and factory faux ivories.  I've wanted one for 20 years, so finally got my wish. ;)

I really like the ROAs. I have three 1 blue and 2 SS. They are the 7.5" adj sights. I am looking for a ROA 5.5.  I also have a .45 Cov. Cylinder. I shoot the Lee .456 220 conicals over Triple 7 powder. :)

That's a nice rig. I've been shooting a ROA for many years. Just picked up a SS one week before last. It's just the regular one but still nice.

The price on ROAs is really going up. Looking at one now. It is like the one posted here. It comes with the box papers unfired. The price is $850 dollars. ???

Well I sure love it already!  I am glad I sprung for the High polished version as clean up is a breeze.  I literally disassemble and clean the cylinder and loose under barrel parts for the ball seater in a super hot sink full of dawn dish soap using a nylon cleaning brush.  I rarely have to use any elbow grease except inside the cylinders themselves.  Those I clean out with a bronze bristle brush.  So far mine has been super accurate with 35 gr. and a 200 gr. RNFP conical, also shot well with the max load of 40 gr. with the conical and I've loaded up 35 gr. with the round ball.  Only had a slight adjustment going from one to the other.  I ran into a deal and picked up a lot of 250 gr. RNFP conicals and I'm going to try those next.  After about 8 cylinder fulls shot, I'm running low on my Goex FFFg, so I need to pick up some more if I can find some around here.  I was hitting the bottom of tin cans at 10 yards pretty consistently, but had to aim down a bit that close.  With the rear sight bottomed out, it still wants to hit POI about 50 yards.  I may at some point file down the front sight a bit, but want to put her through her paces at longer range first.  If it's dead on at 50 yards, I may leave it.  ;)

If you file on the front sight it will hit even higher.......

I had to make a replaceable blade for one of my ROAs because somebody did that. I don't recommend it.

Hello,

Can anyone tell me a good place to purchase one of these ROA highly polished handguns with the ivory grips. I have one with the Rosewood grips and really like it, and would like to get another one.

Are they still being made from Ruger's factory?

Also what is a good price?

Thank You
Dave
God Bless!
