Value on a couple of old kits
« on: December 21, 2003, 06:47:07 PM »
A friend of mine has acquired two kits at a gun show, and is thinking of selling them off. I haven't seen them yet.

He says they're both .50 caliber T/C, one a Hawken, the other a Renegade. Both are packaged with CVA accessories. He claims they're complete, the barrels are still in the white with surface rust, but no pitting.

How long has it been since T/C offered kits? Did they really package them up with CVA accessories? My friend isn't into blackpowder at all, so until I see these I'm taking what he says with salt.

If these are what he says they are, any idea on value?

My 1999 Dixie catalog shows that T/C offered the hawken in a kit.  Price was $265.  Knowing Dixie's prices, I wouldn't offer but half that, if I even wanted it.    That's the only T/C model kit listed.

I'm interested in both of them. Please let me know if he has them. I don't have a lot of dough, though.

I have picked them up around here from $50.00 to $90.00.Much more than that and I dont bother.email with price. whitetailstalker@aol.com I very seriously doubt that T/C would be having CVA parts in their kits. There would be no gain in that. They are not throw togethers by some dealer are they??

Whitecloud,
If you could find a 50 to 90 dollar T/C kit somewhere for me during your travels, I'd pay for it plus your time. I'm interested in buying a gun, but I think a kit would be interesting and a lot of fun. I like to reload because of the sense of satisfaction from using my own ammo to "bring home the bacon". It would be wonderful to get a deer with a gun I built. I live here in WV, and can't seem to find a kit or BP gun used anywhere. I've been watching the auction sites for the right one, but nothing in my price range has come up yet. I've seen where they have sold exactly what I'm after - two weeks ago for my price, too!!! So I'm waiting.......but I have to hurry a little. Deer season starts in 11 months!!!! :)

I 'd like some one to snag me a T/C 56cal smoothbore. Actually a 60 62cal would be better. I don't know if they put them in kits er not.
