218 Bee
« on: February 03, 2004, 02:34:17 PM »
I'm considering buying a Taurus in 218 Bee in stainless steel with the thin 12 inch barrel.  Anybody got one?  If so what do you think of it.

I have one of these in 357 Magnum.  What other calibers are they made in.  17, 22lr, any others?

Keneth,

I purchased the model 218SS6.  This is the Tracker 6.5" stailess, 7-shooter.  So far, this gun looks and works just fine.  I am working on loads for it.  So far, what I had been loading is 45grain hornet bullets (Sierra) over 6 grains of Blue Dot powder.  It penetrates really good but it does not expand the bullet.  I need to do more testing on that.  Otherwise, I am very happy with this revolver.

Kenneth,

I just recently picked up a Taurus Raging Bee.  It has a 10" full underlug barrel.  I haven`t sighted it in yet, but did run a cylinder full(8 shots) through it to make sure it goes boom.  I`ve always liked the .218 Bee, and I have two favorite loads that I use in my Ruger #1, that I`m going to try in the Raging Bee.  If they don`t shoot to my liking, I`ll work up something it likes.  I think with the cylinder fit, and the double lock up, the problems that the 22 Jet had shouldn`t plague this revolver.  A few months from now when I`m out doing some serious damage to the "tundra mung" population, I should have a better idea on reliability matters.  Happy shooting friend.   tenzilla

Thanks for the info . The "B" I saw was a 12" silo mod on the k-frame sized gun . It really balanced well in the hand . It had a strange set of sights that made me wonder if someone had changed them , V- rear notch and red hi vis front . If it had the square post and square cut notch rear I would have probably bought it . The 12" comes in 22LR,22Mag,17HRM, 218 B and 357 Mag. If they come in something else  I'm not aware of it. I would like to have one with correct sights in 357 for a shooter. Kennteh didn't you say you had a 357 ? ( can't go back and look while I'm writing ) . If you have one how does it shoot and have you chrono'ed anything out of it?
