I like a 4# for most deer and up rifles.

I like a 3# for varmits.

I like a 2# for targets

Most of my Remington 700s and Win Model 70s have good triggers.    I have put Timneys in just about everything else I own.

Some nameless, faceless, Finlander set my trigger up, perfectly I might add, Tikka owner here. ;D

The M-70 Winchester needed to be reduced to a more acceptable 3.4 from something like 4.5 factory setting. The pull weight is about the same as the Tikka but the wider shoe makes it feel different, I'm not sure I like it as well. Both are quite crisp the wider one is just different to the touch.

I had a Keplinger single set trigger installed on my 300 Win Mag. In regular mode, it's set at 2 1/2 #'s. If I push the trigger forward, it resets it at 14 oz. I currently shoot a 165 grain Hornady Interbond with 77.5 Grains of Reloader 22, at 3622 fps.

Never thought of the set trigger until reading this.  Actually my "best" trigger is the double set trigger on my 256 Newton. 8)

All my triggers both aftermarket and factory are pretty much as light as possible now I'm not talking down to ounces but as light as I can get them and still be safe I've never met anyone who enjoys an occasional slam fire! Most are about 1 1/2 lbs it's just easier for me if all my guns have similar trigger weights so no matter the situation whichever particular gun I am using it is comfortable and familiar!!!
2-.223's,2-.243's, 4-22lr's, 357, 45LC, 7mm-08, .280, 30-06, 2-4/10's, 20ga, 12ga. and a custom savage 7mmWSM...

I shoot mainly targets, silhouettes, and off the bench these days,
so my triggers are mostly set quite light.

Being a long time target shooter, I have no fear of lightly set triggers, as long as they are safe.

For hunting, I always had the trigger at 2lbs plus.
No place for a over light trigger pull out there, imo.

Where I can adjust them, simply, generally with a screw out, or a spring replace, I have adjusted my triggers lighter,
but on a couple, I shoot at around 3.5lb, which is the lightest that they will go.
Just means a bit more concentration on hold and trigger control.

I have different Anschutz sporter triggers, a Savage Accutrigger, a Timney, and a Sako 75, and I'm happy with them all.
The Sako can be simply adjustd to 1.5lb with a screw out, or tightened in to about 3lb. Ideal weights and crisp as new lettuce to a rabbit !
The Accutrigger sits at 3.5lb, lightest it will go without taking apart, but a good, crisp letoff.
3 of the Anschutz's with more modern trigger assemblies are simple spring replace, but the older .222 sits at 3.5lb.
Bit more complex to get it lower, so being a lazy sod, I haven't bothered.

cheers,
SS
