t/c renegade question

Got a renegade today have question about something when i use the set trigger on the rifle the hammer does not come all the way down onto the nipple but if don't use set trigger it goes all the way down when don't use the set trigger and just pull the regular trigger what could be causing it hoping it is easy thing to fix and keep the explainations simple don't know much of anything about these traditional ML's with double triggers

Take the lock off and tighten the screws on the bridle.

took it apart and tightened up the bridle screws and had to move the pawl of sear was over the edge of the tumbler put it back together and still not working right when i use the set trigger and pull the other trigger it won't go all the way down over the nippleseems like maybe i should just not use the set trigger at this point

I would take the lock out again.  Loosen the screws and wiggle everything around to make sure everything is in the right position.  Tighten the screws again and operate the lock by hand to see if it appears to be working properly.   While the lock is out, inspect the inside of the mortise on the stock to see if the end of the arm of the sear is touching the wood.  Also, inspect the mortise well to see if there appears to be any rubbing between the lock works and the wood.  Anything dragging inside there will weaken the force the set trigger applies when it hits the sear arm.   Also, when you re-install the lock, back the lock bolt off about 1/2 or 3/4 turn after you screw it down tight.

going to have to get some tools than cause the few i have don't work very well going to mar up the screws.

There's a little part in there that's called the "Fly Detent". It just flops around in a notch/hole in the tumbler and lets the sear skip past the half-cock notch when the set trigger is used;
 

 
Check to be sure the Fly is indeed there and the fly needs to be loose so it moves,, aka: it needs lubrication

Thank you so much for the pictures of the locks . I have just dissasemble my 1st last week so that I could redo the stock and browning. I was not aware that it appears these are nearly identical to mine . Kurt
