AA 4350 vs A XMR 4350
« on: March 21, 2012, 02:51:55 AM »
I would guess that this has been brought up in the past, but what is the comparison between the two powders? I know all of the 4350 powders are different. This one I don't know much about. I have found that the AA 4350 has been very good in some of my loads. Was looking thru a couple of manuals and (30 06) found loads for the A XMR 4350 but none for the AA 4350.  Just wondering because I have some AA 4350 but none of the A XMR 4350.
Just an inquisitive mind at work.... ;D

Just went to a burn rate chart, and AA 4350 was listed at number 136, from fastest to slowest, and IMR was number 137. I would think that they are pretty close, but, with that being said, with access to the internet, I would go to the company's website,AA and IMR's website, and see what they have published. DON'T go to joe blows website, but the company's involved. gypsyman

The AA online loading manual should have loads for the '06 using that powder.  I use a lot of AA4350 in several cartridges incuding the '06.  I have pressure tested (Oehler M43) and velocity tested AA4350 under 180 gr Hornady bullets in the '06.

Just got a reply from Accurate Arms.  They stated that all of the prefixes (A AA A XME etc.) have been dropped as of 2003. All power in the 4350 will be the same. This is for thier powder ONLY.   Not H 4350 IMR 4350 etc.
I guess we never get to old to learn something new.
