If you had your choice??

First of all please no arguements here, each gun does have its good and bad points.

If you were going into battle and had your choice of gun between an M16, M1 carbine or sks, ak  which one would you pick and why?   Now if you had any choice of gun what would you really pick?       BigBill

Due to reliability problems the M16 would be ruled out first,  I don't know too much about the M1 except for the different pistol ammo,  I would pick the sks over the ak for accuracy because with accuracy less ammo would be consumed.  Now if I could pick any gun two come to mind a 12ga. with "00" for upclose and personal work and my 8MM Hakim its dependable and very accurate long range plus just the muzzle blast would scare the bad guys away.

Choice?

BigBill - depending on what the other guy was using I would probably use the same, unless his was an absolute pos in an ineffective caliber.  Failing that I would probably opt for a M60..................  But, that's just me.  Mikey.

First, the AK in original 7.62X39.

Second, an HK in 6.5X55 Swede.

From the options given, the SKS.

If I had my choice, an M14. Why? A long time ago me and the M14 bonded. Pretty decent long range accuracy, with select fire a feller can set up a pretty good killing field.

Mikey, the M60 is a good choice, but it's too heavy for me to be totin around anymore. My legs just ain't what they used to be in the '60's. :?  Now, for a fixed position...........

The SKS.......

but, always have been partial to the sniper mentalitv - so, my personal choice would have been a Krag Mountain Carbine.

My T3 (British WWII sniper rifle) for long range work,
My 1911 and K-bar for anything close!
I am real partial to my M1 carbine also!
I know it only hits about like a .38 special at 100
yards but I still like it!

for my fist choice i'd take the SKS

second of course would be Lee-Enfield(big surprise, huh) i know, i know it's a weak cartridge, it can't shoot straight, blah blah blah. i'm practised with this rifle and i can get off "ten rounds rapid" with farly decent accuracy when the action gets close well, it don't have an 18 inch sword bayonet and a half inch of solid brass for a buttplate for looks now does it?
