Savage 219 mounting scope
« on: February 12, 2004, 02:26:00 PM »
I have a model 219 22 Hornet that I want to put a larger diameter objective scope on . I ordered a high style Weaver side mount rings and now the larger scope will  fit but it is not directly over the center of the barrel but slightly to the side. In otherword it is now positioned at 1 o'clock instead of 12 o'clock. I have never ran into this before . Do you foresee any problems when sighting the gun in?? Thanks for any input !!!

I don't think it should be too much of a problem at moderate distances.  Quite a few rifles had the scope mounted to the side, Krag, Winchester 94 etc.  If it is a problem you could always tilt the rifle to one side so that the scope was directly over the center of the bore   :-)
