Easiest way this wintter=putting box[live]traps near your bird feeders overnight.Cottontails are out after dark, for the spilled seed.Just head shoot them with a 22.The girdling of shrubs and fruit trees warrants their control. You could also release the rabbit in the presence of your beagles for amusement.

I have not rabbit hunted in years. I used to go to my aunts farm and use her beagle to run them.   It was a great afternoon, and the old dog loved it as much as I did. I would take my ruger 22 single six handgun and try to get them. I was never very successful, but , my aunt did appreciate it when I got her one or two. My Aunt and the beagle are both passed now, but they live in my memory.
