Old Contender synthetic stock and G2 forearm?
« on: December 04, 2012, 08:47:00 AM »
I'm considering buying a rifle stock and forearm. I am wondering if the general appearance (color, texture and feel) of the G2 part number 7735 plastic forearm for bull barrels matches the old style Contender stock? Or would they look mismatched together?

If the color didn't match, I would probably DuraCoat both in "HK Black". I hate to admit that I have never even seen a synthetic TC stock in person.

Please post some large pics if you can.... everything I see online is very small.

PLUS: EABCO sells a modified forearm that they say works on both old and new frames, and it has a cutout. I was under the impression that new forearms fit the old frame without having to modify anything - am I misinfomed?

Thanks.

John,
I have the G2 forearm on my original contender and I don't really notice a color difference.

The butt stock (original Contender) does have a more coarse "grain" to it than the G2 forend.

Hope this helps.

PS
I had to modify mine like the photo you posted in order for the forened to clear the frame allowing the barrel to completely open.

That helps, thanks. Have you considered an aftermarket raised comb? That scope looks like a reach....

I'm considering either a ...  http://www.amazon.com/Beartooth-Stock-Comb-Raising-Kit/dp/B002L9G75K/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=7KIO1M59C27O&coliid=I1A76BD7FB9IKJ

Can you comment on those? Thanks.

I like it as is. I have three scoped barrels and never noticed any issues with it being so low with any of them. If I ever get my hands on a G2 frame I'll get to experience a higher comb. Maybe I'll like it better.  :D
Sorry I have no experience with comb raising kits. I do like the looks of the first one better though. For whatever that's worth  :)
