The safety on my 788 (.308 carbine) has gone sour. I haven't hunted/shot the gun in a while, but using a snap cap I'll engage the safety and trip the trigger and it still sounds like it's falling. In an uncocked condition, the safety button wiggles whenever I pull the trigger. I'm thinking of pulling the action from the stock and having a looksee...or is this fix better left to a qualified gunsmith? I've heard of news accounts on this but can't seem to find the links. Appreciate any help.
