What are the current market prices for a 38-55 Target Rifle in like new condition?  Is it in the $500-600 range?

About the same as when they were available up until 2007 when they were discontinued, $300-$400, search the H&R classifieds, actual selling prices tell the story.  ;)

It depends on the seller. Some guys think their stuff is gold plated and want a million bucks for them. Realistically a nice one should go for 3 or 4 hundred bucks. ;)

$350 to $450 depending on sights, condition and accessories.  I just sold a very nice one that had a chamber job and had Smith Sight on it for $375.00.  I sent along 50 rounds of brass and some .381 swagged heads.  I discounted it from $450 because of a couple of tang holes from a previous tang sight.  If those hadn't been there I would have held at $450.  Hope this helps.

Okay so what's the difference between a Wesson & Harrington Target Rifle and an H&R Target Rifle?

The only differences are the W&H 38-55 Target came with steel trigger guard and spacer and no sights, the H&R version came with sights and plastic TG and spacer, both were made by H&R in Gardner MA. Steel parts were discontinued years ago unfortunately.
