I planted some cotton
« on: April 23, 2012, 04:53:47 AM »
I planted some cotten in my wife's rose garden.  She didn't mind.  The cotten plants are growing well.  This August we will be able to make our very own cotten balls and Q-tips.  I hope we don't get any bol weevils.

I don't think any bol weevils up the nose or in the ear would be fun at all.  When the time comes show us northerners some pics.

I will post some pictures when the bolls open.  I have not thought about mechanizing the picking or ginning.  I have seen some of Eli Whiteny's patent drawings.  A small hand-cranked cotton gin would be great for show-and-tell day.

You will have to get a nine foot sack to pick it. Remember to use both hands so you can fill it faster.
