Crossman 2200
« on: January 30, 2004, 05:29:59 AM »
What can you tell me about this air rifle.  Is is accurate?  Does it have the power to take game upto a cottontail? I would like to be able to take pigions at 30yards.  Can I mount a scope on it?  Is it worth $55.00?

Thanks,

Kirkned

I've taken plenty of squirrels and rabbits with my crossman airguns. If you want to shoot larger animals I would suggest that you step up to a more powerful gun. I have, and it's like day and night. As a kid I took my first rabbit with a red ryder, but I wouldn't try it again. I think the lower cost guns are fine but if you look to hunt critters you would be better served by spending a few more bucks. There are plenty of decent low end guns on the market. If your main game is whacking sparrows, starlings and an occasional squirrel the crossman will work fine.

Yes to all of the above but you might want to shave

those distances off a bit. the 2200 will do 600 fps at 10 pumps but thats at the muzzle so you might just want to take slightly closer shots or but a more powerful springer. Like perhaps the RWS model 94 which will do 1000 fps in 177 and can be bought as a demo from airgun express for $119.00
Or perhaps a used gun from the american airguns classifieds with a bit more power but you will have to up your price point to at least $100.
