BARREL LUGS
« on: April 11, 2012, 11:17:14 PM »
Like Tom T Hall's old song "as a matter of fact I like beer", I like lugs on revolvers--especially full lugs. I think it makes the gun look better.

William:  as you know, there are barrels and there are barrel nuts; there are lugs and there are lug nuts, and there is beer and there are beer nuts.  I like beer, and beer nuts but not necessarily barrels with full length lugs.  I could never really appreciate the Colt Python although I once owned two and never really found favor with the S&W L-frames with the full length barrel lugs - except for that one model they came out with (once) that had a 8" bbl, full underlug, different grips and a smooth cylinder.  I think they called that the 'Hunter' model.

I do understand choices---I guess you can call me a lug NUT---maybe just a NUT--my wife thinks I am a NUT case most of the time---My son just calls me a hardheaded ol NUT.
My grandson came in the other day and asked if the NUT was home---I am going to have need to talk with my daughter about teaching that boy some manners---I prefer MR NUT.
I am nuttin if I am not a NUT.

Mikey -  ya got me laughing a bunch - funny

When it comes to Lugging a revolver around day after day I prefer a small lug, just enough to protect the extractor rod. I haven't shot enough full lug guns to have an opinion on them for accuracy etc.  I do like my 657 Mt gun for its reduced wt .  Kinda wish my SP 101 had less metal on it while carrying it but have to admit if I'm shooting full house 158 gr or heavier 357 - the weight is a good thing.

You could change the L in lugs to a J and compare them to the accents on a female anatomy. Similarly, some folks like 'em big and some like 'em small. Me, I like 'em all. ;D
"where'd you get the gun....son?"
