H&R Top Eject 38
« on: January 13, 2013, 01:45:50 PM »
Hello, first time here, have enjoyed reading many of these.   I am researching on a blue steel, 3" 38 top eject that does not have any Pat dates on the top rib.  Has the standard Harrington & Richardson Arms Co, Worcester MASS. U.S.A. but that is all.  Left side of barrel has 38 S&W CTGE.  The gun is in very clean condition except for the serial number on the butt. Hard to read.  I "think" it is 118113.   the cylinder has 113 stamped in it.  The weapon is hammerless.  Fixed front and rear sights.   Appears to be in very good working condition.   I am not sure how to submit pictures yet, but will work on that.  No marks, scratches, grips appear to be like new.   Any information on it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much
Larry

Yes if you could supply a pic it would help.
But that's a fairly good discription too.
Maybe someone can help decypher it.

Ok, looks like this is a fourth variation 1914-1915 from all the info I have found.   Next question, IF, it is determined to be in good mechanical condition, (and everything so far points in that direction)....would there be a problem firing standard 148 grain wadcutter ammunition through it?  Either flat nose or semi-wadcutter soft lead rounds?  I am sure that none of these are pushing out much over 800 fps if that.
Thanks much
