How can a person tell if a barrel will fit on these rifle from cal.to cal. without a gun smith There are barrel for sale an say I wanted to put it on my frame

Barrels often fit from frame to frame.  Rifle barrels can only be safely put on an SB2 rifle frame with the exception of .357 Magnum/Maxi, .44 Special and .30-30.  Some have done .45-70 kept to trap door levels also like the original Shakira's were.  If you look at the Handi-rifle section you will find a FAQ which will guide you through many questions concerning Handi-Rifles.  I'd spend some time there and see if you are willing to put forth the effort that may be required to fit one prior to purchasing.  I have been excessively blessed as I have 6 barrels I've purchased and every one has snapped onto my frames.    Sometimes the sun shines on every dog I guess.

Also, provided you have a post 1987 SB2 receiver and barrel, you can send them ti Ilion for fitment for about $35.
