Mother in law.
« on: April 21, 2012, 07:58:38 AM »
Patty and I watched a movie Wed night and got to sleep about 1 am.  2 am we got a call that my MIL would not live thru the night and to get there quick. Got there about 330am, rehab ctr in Lou. She is diabetic, excess fluids, blocked artery, congestive heart failure, legs and feet swelled, lots of probs, going on and almost 90 yrs old. Folks came in from as far as Chicago and Ga. 1st night in the waiting room several started arguing over who was getting what. Some of that bunch have the biggest mouths, the more they talk the louder they get, I know most families have them or know of them. I ended up running some out of moms rm and shutting others up. Lots of prayers said. She progressed well and the nurses said that she had done a complete turnaround and was really surprised at the progress in just a couple of days. The past few days I sat in the hall kinda playing traffic cop. If Mom was trying to sleep nobody got past me. No doubt she needed rest. Yesterday we took her outside for an hr or so and she loved every min of it. The nurse said it seemed to do her a world of good. Big flare up last night again, Patty and I came home today, we are very stressed and totally exhausted. I believe Mom will come through this. We will go back next week. Prayers appreciated, her name is Doris Paine. POWDERMAN.  :) :)

So the vultures are circling before the "prey" has expired. I would need to handcuff myself before someone gets a fat lip. >:(
BTW. If you still have a pulse after 90 some years, IMO Mother Nature doesn't owe you anything. ;)

This is why I suggest “putting it on paper” before anything happens.  The wife and I had wills made several years ago, funerals were pre-arranged,  we also went through the house and marked items for individual family members (each grandchild knows what gun they will get, etc).  There was also a piece of paper whit those items listed and to whom they would go given to each person.  There won’t be anything to argue about when we go.

The dr wasn't scheduled til next Tues but he came yesterday after we left for home. He told her that he heard St Peter was calling her, but he sent her back. She will resume rehab Mon morning. She definitely was blessed, as were we all. She said that she has had a good life and is ready for whatever God wants to do with her. The ctr was originally a mansion, then converted to a Jewish synagogue, and now a rehab center. The staff there is great. On the rt side of every dr jam there is a strip of metal maybe 4 in  X 1 in wide with grooves, all different, some were just painted with scenes. I found out that they were Jewish prayer scrolls, scrolls doesn't sound rt but they have to do with prayer. The word escapes me. It felt good to rest today. Thanks again for the prayers. Charlie.  ;D ;D

That is just despicable. Unfortunately it is the norm, God help us. We learned the hard way that elder law is not advocacy for the elders, it's advocacy for the people that want to divide the estate.

I hope your mother in law lives a good rest of her life, and enjoys each day on this earth. God bless her!

Pman,

Glad to hear that MIL is doing better.  My thoughts are with you, Patty, and Jadynn.   I shall also pray that MIL gets health, spirit, and strength.     I think Saint Peter has barred the Pearly Gates because he was intimidated that she is such a fighter.     If you need anything, give me a holler.

Spent all day at the rehab yesterday. Mom used the walker and did good but her BP is still pretty low with resp up. She said she doesn't want to leave her family. She'll be out of there next week, ins won'y pay for anymore. She said she did not want the hosp anymore, just take me home. Her kidneys are starting to fail too.
My Mom in ILL isn't doing well at all. We haven't had gas $ to see her this month but we'll go up after the 1st. POWDERMAN.  :( :(
