Personally I think it's just a way for the FBI to take control of your computer or to embed something that will let them know all you do online. I'll take my chances. without their help.

I don't know what to think of it, but a very strange thing did happen to us a while back.  One day I couldn't get the Internet to work on any of our wireless computers.  I did the normal checking of the modem and the router connections, but still no wireless.  The main computer still worked just fine.

I didn't know if it was a problem with the router, or what, but the next day we were on a little vacation and the hotel we stayed at had wireless, so we took the computers and tried them out there.  They worked just fine.  So I figured our router was probably junk.  When we got home, I went on line to see if I could get any help from the router's website.  That was a waste of time.  Thinking I would have to go buy another router and it sure as heck wouldn't be the same brand, I was ready to head to town, but just for the heck of it, I tried the wireless computers again and this time everything worked great.  It's still working.  I don't know what to think--solar flares, or what?

If it happens again, try unplugging the power to your your modem and router for about 30 seconds, then plugging it in again. We have that happen occasionally, usually when the kids have been watching a lot of videos.

I really could care less.
Nothing on my PC that would do them any good or that they don't already know about me anyway.
If we lose it then fine.
Hate to lose all of my friends like the ones here on GBO but if I ain't on here then I will have more time to hunt and shoot!
Might just be a good thing!!!

Did that; didn't do any good.  I'm just happy it's working now.

I am with Longtom on this one, I dont spend too much time on it anyway since my bride has retired, most of our mornings are spent trying to create a Medical breakthrough  ;D .  At our age you would think we have everything we need but the bride is always wanting to go shopping not just for us but for the youngest child he is building a new house and you would think we were.   Jim

We've had a few, and just a few, outages in the past 10 years with my internet provider. One day I needed it for work and it went down. I called them about it and there was a major problem in Chicago that they were fixing. Another time somebody had hit a communications utility box by driving into it near my neighborhood. Overall it's been very reliable.

I'm very suspicious of such things and would hesitate to click on it. One of hackers favorite ways to infect your computer is to sucker you into clicking on a suposed anti virus. Usualy a pop up will tell you your computer is infected and you must click on the pop up to get rid of it. If you make the mistake of doing so you are then truly infected and the hackers want you to pay them to clean your computer. This just sounds too much like such a scam. One would think if this was legit we'd have heard more about it before now.
