Hi guys, posted similar on another board but need your help. I am absolutely kicking myself for selling my Rem 700 .223 which i had placed a heavy Hart barrel and jewel trigger on.. Was a really nice gun, and am just sick i got rid of it. Anyway, looking to build a new one and was looking at the above cartridge and wondering what your thoughts were? Had shyed from the 22-250 as gunsmith told me for high volume shooting i could expect barrel/throat erosion much quicker than with 223. Assuming the 223 WSSM would burn up even faster than 22-250, but just basing that on logic of it being a hotter round. Additionally, can you purchase just the receiver of remington 700 or what is the best way to build a gun. Previously, had purchased "whole gun (Rem 700 VSSF)", then replaced barrel and trigger and had lugs lapped and face trued. Just curious if receiver could be purchased relatively cheap and then add everything on cheaper than buying entire gun route. thanks for help.
