This is not right
« on: April 26, 2012, 05:55:42 AM »
This is ridiculous. The Catholic Church is dead wrong for firing this lady and I hope she takes them to the bank in court. In Vitro may be the only way my wife and I can have a child. Any church that thinks it is wrong can kiss my A$$$$$$$$.

This woman isn't a nun she is an employee and she isn't doing anything illegal. She isn't selling drugs, she isn't pimping child prostitutes.

So the Catholic Church thinks you should go childless because they believe IVF is a "sin" Stuff it.

I have a large problem with anyone who wants to tell me what to believe or how to behave while they run around and do whatever it is they please. I guess that is why I despise liberals, churches and most republicans

Thats a link to the story. If she knew it violated the beliefs of her employer she took a chance and lost. However, I disagree with the Churches stance on this issue and see noth wrong with invitro. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Since she isnt a priest then the odds are good she isnt a pedophile.

Not being a catholic I can't comment on their beliefs.
But if it is a catholic school , then she should go by the church's rules.
If she don't agree with the catholics beliefs, then she has the option of not working there.

So if you work for a Jew, Muslim, or Seventhe Day Adventist you should give up ham and cheese sandwishes? What she does at home on her own time is her own business. The church, as are all the others, is full of adulterers, pedophiles, liars, blasphemers, divorcees, etc but the chuch doesn't fire them. Hypocrites!

Actually, yes.
When you go to work for almost all Catholic organizations, you sign an agreement to not do anything contrary to the faith.

So from a strictly legal standpoint, she was risking getting fired and she should have known better.

The Catholic Church is indeed cutting its own throat on alot of issues, but one it is still willing to take the hard stance on is the murder of the unborn.  In vitro fertilization as it is most commonly practiced, involves several steps contrary to what Catholicism sees as acceptable- the main one being that many ova are fertilized, producing many embryos (i.e. LIVING beings).  then the "best" of them are selected for implantation in the mother while the rest are destroyed.  Equivalent to abortion.

Just want folks to realize that this lady made an agreement and broke it, most likely.  Its just so easy to pick on Catholics that our agenda driven media wont print her part.

So if I worked for Hienz kethup they could make me sign a pledge to not vote for a conservative and fire me if I did? It doesn't pass the smell test for a church or company to dictate what I can do in my personal life.

You have to be aware of what contracts you sign.  Where I work, having a firearm of any kind on company property will get you terminated.  Which means if somebody finds out about the carbine I keep behind the seat of my Dodge then I can get fired over it.  I dont' agree with that policy and would gladly take them to court over it, but the fact remains that i am aware what could happen.
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

I'm not a Jew, Muslim, Seventh Day Adventist...but if employment with them required that I giuve up ham & cheese sandwiches..then I give them up...or don't take the job.  Nobody forces anybody to take a job with them yet.
I'm not a Catholic and with their stand against self supplied invitro... but this gal was hired with clear understanding, so the church is right as I see it.  To be consistant though, this diocease should fire anyone who goes grossly against their teachings.
I understand their problem with invitro is that several lives will be started, but only one or two will be used and the rest rubbed out. Try to understand their pro-life position..

I have to side with the Catholics on this one.  once an egg is fertilized, it's a life.
we had that choice. but chose to adopt.

I too would be uncomfortable with anything that would use one started life out of several and discard the rest.
