Grip or mag extenders for a G19?
« on: December 09, 2011, 09:49:52 AM »
Hello all,
A newbie here.
I have the opportunity to borrow a G19 for an extended period of time.  I've run a couple of mags through it and was pleasantly surprised overall,  except for the short grip.  I'm going to shoot this a while before deciding between a full size or compact (17 or 19) for purchase.  Which grip extender would you recommend to keep my little finger from hanging off the end of the 19?  Pros and cons?
Thanks in advance - Mike

Welcome Merwin!
I'm not a fan of magazine extensions for anything short of an open gun.  Basically, if I want a larger grip, I'd prefer to have a larger gun attached to it. With practice, you can learn to shoot well with the stock 19 grip length. If you just must have a longer grip, perhaps you could pick up a couple of Glock 17 mags. That gives you two extra rounds in a possibly more reliable package than grip extensions while giving you a rest for that pinky. Whether you decide to get a 17 or 19 the mags will be something you can use in either one. Good shooting! The Glock 19 is my favorite 9mm Glock.

Thanks for the replies - I'm learning.
The Pearce looks the best since I really wasn't trying to increase the capacity of the stock mag.  The issue mostly stems from the half moon cut-out and transition to the mag base (2nd Gen).  I've put a few hundred rounds through it and am learning the trigger.  I just need to drift the rear sight a tad and it'll be good to go.

Thanks again,
Mike

I carried mine using a G17 magazine with a sleeve that slips over the mag to fill the extra space and replicates the grip of the larger 17

The 19 size conseals/carries better then the larger 17... Is this a carry gun? If so I say live with it and go the quoted suggestion for the range.

IF its simply a fun/range gun go 17 all the way!
