I just bought a 1100 from an older man.  He had gotten it from someone years ago.  Somehow the gun had gotten wet and stayed wet for a long time from the looks of it.  There is a lot of deep pitting in the receiver.  The barrel had been replaced so it is void of pitting.  He hunted with it for several years.  I bought it for $100.  I took it to the range today and it functions flawlessly.  I ran 6 low brass shells through it and it shot great.  Shot a nice tight pattern to the point of aim.  I think I'm going to give the receiver a good paint job and call it good.  It will make a good beater.

I've already got a plan of attack for fixing this thing.  I'm going to tape off the lettering and engraving.  Then I'm going to use durafil to fill in the pits. The I'm going to paint it with duracoat.  I've had decent luck with duracoat on a  few beater guns.

I have been looking for another 1100 that I could make into a turkey and deer gun.
give it a good flat paint job, maybe camo, add a pistol grip and a Rem choke rifle sighted barrel.
The last 1100 I bought for $250 was in really good shape except for the barrel and a request from my local gun shop it now looks like a brand new 1100.

The last one I saw for $250 was as rough as the one I paid $100 for.  I've seen some nice ones for $350-$375.

Here it is cleaned up and painted.  You can see before and after pictures on the gunsmithing forum.

Search on goggle get it redone it's really not that much and it would look new again. I hope the picture comes out of before and after even with pits a gun can look good again.

Hot bluing will restore your gun to its original finish or, if you wish, to a matte or high polish finish. If correctly maintained, your gun need never be reblued again! See the care sheet we include with your shipment!

Bluing will keep your gun from corroding and will add value to it in the long run.

Pricing for Bluing & Restoration Services
Disassembly/Reassembly is an Extra
$50.00 for Single or Octagon Barrels
$75.00 for Hand Guns or Double Barrels

**If You Need Something Back RIGHT AWAY (within a week),

We Do Expedited Bluing for an Additional $50.00 as long as no disassembly/reassembly is required.**

Normally our turnaround time is two weeks, but if your gun needs to be disassembled, we are at the mercy of our gunsmith, so you'll need to factor that in & plan on an approximate four week turnaround.
Lastly, our pricing is the same for both dealers and non-dealers. It was becoming too difficult for our bookkeeper (aka Me) to keep track of who was who when things were going out, so you all get dealer pricing!
