Thinking about a post mounted swivel gun in golf ball caliber. Does any one make such a thing in either brass or steel? What would be historically accurate scale size?

Mike,
Generally speaking, 20 - 40 inches would be an accurate length (not including tiller) for a swivel gun, and a golf ball sized bore is good.

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won. He died instantly.
The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

Are the trunnions on a swivel gun shorter? Or is a swivel gun simply a small cannon on a swivel mount?

Never seen any reference to differing trunnion length in Swivels. Trunnions should be one caliber long and one caliber in diameter.
Take a look at Damon excellent book "Building 18th Century Naval Artillery"
http://www.privateermedia.com/Publishing/book1.htm
A wonderful book for information on building a Swivel gun yoke as well as Naval carriages.
