picked up this 99 savage 30-30 short rifle 22 inch barrel made in 1915 with a ex bore. i like the rear sight,it has elevation and windage too. number all match. one of the original owners has used a  small punch to add the number of kills on the barrel shank. eastbank.

Great looking rifle. I am very fond of the 99's. Wish they still made them.

It's neat that a previous owner made a dot for every kill. I bought a old Win. 1894 in 30 WCF with
3 small marks on the stock. I would like to know what 3 animals the old rifle put down.
By the way, very neat 99 and great caliber.

That is a great rear sight. Never seen one like that before made by Savage. It looks solid.

i have not seen that sight either, as the pat. date is 1914 on the sight and the rifle was made in 1915, i,m pretty sure it came with the rifle, was it a special order? i don,t know, but i like it and may take it off and keep it if i sell the rifle,i have original era other sights to replace it with.(dove tail is standard 3/8). here is the 99 savage in 250-3000 made in 1954, i picked it up at my ffl,s this morning. bore is ex and the rest is in very good condition, not factory D&T,ed and had sling studs non factory installed. but as i don,t see many for sale i just got it. eastbank.
