NEW. 22LR SPORSTER.

Just bought my first. 22lr Sportster and think it will because one of my favorites. I mounted a Simmons 3x9x32.
And sighted it in with rem HP's at 30 yards. This rifle shows great promise. I was able to put one round through another bullet hole consistently. Testing with other ammo and at other ranges will complete the telling of this tale.

I bought one of these with youth stocks, as well as a T/C Hotshot, for my grandkids to shoot last fall. About the same time I picked up a 23" Match chambered .22 barrel for my contender carbine (something for 'Pa to shoot!). Mounted scopes and shot them all with Federal Auto Match, which is accurate stuff in almost everything, for bulk price at WalMart. At 50 yds, the H&R was shooting in the .5's to maybe .7's, the Hotshot (so tiny, it's hard for me to shoot) under an inch and the new T/C match barrel maybe an inch, which disappointed me. Everyone seems to have about the same story on these Sportsters. With what little they cost, having a couple around makes sense. A real bargain, IMHO. Enjoy!

I needed a .22 for practice and plinking and found this on Gubroker for $165.00.  I figured all the add-ons would up the price if I bought it all new to the $300.00 range so I figured it was a good deal.  The rifle is "like new", and hell its an H&R .22 so I figure its as solid as a hammer.  ( I hope I'm right).  3 x 9 Bushell and a nice sling that will end up on my .223.  The scope will get moved over to one of my deer rifles.  All in all a fair deal IMHO.

Yup they are fun lil guns!!

I had a hell of a time getting mine to shoot well!! 4+" 50 yard groups where the norm!!

On a whim I added a Simms DE resonator and OMG it freakin worked!!! Now it will shoot  almost in a dime at 50 yards!! You can hit a nickel all day long at 50 yards!

My .22 sportster is the best shooting h&r/nef I own. Literally a tack driver as it will shoot the head of a nail at 50yds consistently and that was unmodified. I have added an o-ring to forend and worked on the trigger a bit to make it nice and smooth. Summer practice sessions involve shooting the stems of dandilions. I wish all my handi rifles were as accurate as my sportster was out of the box.

I love mine, I simply LOVE it.  Of late I take my .223 Varmint and my Sportster to the range.  I'll shoot .22lr for a bit, switch to .223 for distance-accuracy practice, and go back to the .22lr.  It gives me a method to both practice and save some $$ by using fewer of the 'high priced spread'.  Before, I would shoot up 50 rounds of .223 in a session, now its down to 20 and I feel I get the practice I need at a more affordable cost.  You cannot say enough for the Sportster.

Good to hear about these. I've been itching for a .22 just to plink around with, and possibly pest-control around the yard.-And, eventually, train my Nephews to shoot-when they get a little older.
 
Darndest thing is, I cannot find a local shop, anywhere around here, that has or carries one in full-size, vs. these "youth" or compact, models. The length of pull on those is just way too short for me.

Buy the youth model and swap stocks, lots of em traded or for sale in the H&R classifieds, all modern H&R single shot stocks are interchangable.

all i have seen here is the youth and a lot of rossie's even used ones. ill run into one eventually.that whats nice about the 22's you can shoot the for hours good practice.
