It's interesting. I guess piracy is regarded as an ordinary profession in Somalia.
 
Any word on whether ships in that area are defending themselves better lately?

I can't understand why those oil tanker companies don't mount three or four concealed chain guns on those ships.  A warning burst from one of those things would cause me to seek out an alternative occupation.

Cannot be done without a change in international maritime law. Now a few steam hoses would also cause me to pause if I were a pirate. Nothing like being boiled alive.

GOLLY... GEE... (SNIFFLE)... doesn't it bring a BIG tear to your eye to read that some poor,  innocent Somali PIRATE is moaning over the loss of the equipment he uses to MURDER & MAIM innocent, hard-working seamen on unarmed ships?!?

Why SHUCKY-DARN... I feel so sorry for him that I think it would only be FAIR if someone would send him a pound of C-4 with a VERY short fuse almost burnt down to the charge... and tell him it's his birthday "cake"... (his LAST one)   ;D

We should send him a nice replacement boat with all of the necessary equipment he needs to be an honest pirate.  All that plus some C4 that could be remotely detonated while he and his merry band of honest pirates are at sea.  BANG!  And nobody will ever know what happened to them!  Then we could give the next one a similar present.
