Transfer Bar Problem = FTF
« on: May 21, 2012, 02:20:33 AM »
My new (<100 Rounds) .223 Bull Bbl. Handi-Rifle has a FTF problem. If the weapon is tilted even slightly CCW when pulling back the hammer, when the sear is released, the transfer bar fails stay up, therefore does not contact the firing pin resulting in a FTF. If the weapon is held level, or rotated slightly clockwise when pulling the hammer back, it works fine. I understand the importance of 'follow through' on the trigger pull, this is NOT the isue.
Is this something that can be repaired while I tackle the trigger job, or should I return it for warranty work?

Replace the t-bar, what you're describing is a known issue for a bad t-bar, you may be able to repeen the two parts if you want to try, but Numrich has a replacement that will work, H&R will replace it also if you send it to them, they'll do the trigger job too for the cost of shipping or $20 plus shipping depending on how light the trigger is now, under 5½lbs they charge IIRC.

It will likely continue to get worse, fortunately there are some in-depth posts regarding this, and the new, current use 'T-bar' fixes it (there are pics of the bad and good ones here) You could easily install it, if you get one.

Thanks, it's on it's way to H&R.. i.e. Alhman's in MN. They said 3-4 weeks turn around, and hopefully will put some time into the the 6.5 lb. trigger too.
