Remington (No. 2?) Rolling Block .357 Magnum
« on: April 18, 2012, 12:22:43 PM »
I missed a deal this past weekend and someone bought it out from underneath me.  It was a nice looking Rolling Block (I believe it was called a No. 2) with an octagonal barrel, nice wood and color case hardened frame.  How recently or what years were these produced in .357 Magnum?  Did they make version in .357 Magnum that were not as fancy wood and finish and how $much$ do they go for?

To my knowledge they were never produced by Remington in 357 mag. Remington discontinued the No 2 before the 357 was born. So the gun had to be either a custom or some Euro-replica. I had a very clean 32 rimfire bored out to 38 spl ( remind me to kick myself again) that I let get away.
I believe that Remington reintroduced the No 1 as a custom shop item but only in 45/70.

I suspect you might have seen a replica Remington Rolling block.  Been awhile since I handled one, but seem to recall the STAR (?) company in Spain made a rolling block in 357 magnum.  I was interested in buying a used one I saw at a gunshow about 4 years ago, but dealer's price on it was too high for me.

I'm still kicking myself, I missed a deal.   I hesitated and someone else snatched it up for $225.  Another one came up on gunbroker recenlty and it went for over $500.  So, I guess the going price is around $500.
