10 gauge turkey barrel sight
« on: December 27, 2012, 02:09:06 PM »
Ok, my old eyes aren't up to the task anymore and I have trouble seeing the bead on the 10 gauge turkey barrel.  So I was wondering what options are out there.  The barrel is drilled and tapped, but I was hoping not to go that route.  I have seen "clip on" fiber optic sights that attach behind the bead sight, is there one that works on the 10 gauge barrel?

A turkey gun without a scope is like gravy without biscuits, it just aint done!  ;D   If eye relief is a concern with a hard recoiling turkey getter, have a look at Nikons turkey scopes, my Nikon Monarch has a slight advantage over my Leupold turkey scope in that regard, the Nikons are very nice and enough eye relief to prevent that distinguished magnum scar to your brow.  ;)

i've got the clip-on tru-glo you're
talking about on all my plain barreled
shotguns except the shorty which i
had to put a ramp on to bring it
back in line.
both 10 ga barrels do great with it.
of course, it's inexpensive enough
to try without having the re-re's
if it doesn't work out for you.

As far as optics go, I just dont want to make it any heavier than it already is.  Plus, I have killed a lot of birds with it as is.  I just need a bead that is easier to see.

The clip on is the kind of thing I am looking for.  My main worry was that it would not fit the 10 gauge barrel, which is even thicker than usual on the 10 gauge Pardner.

You wouldn't happen to have a specific model number?

I'd be interested too. I've looked for, but never found, a clip-on (Tru-Glo or Hi-Viz) sight for the heavy barreled 10 gauge.

barrel i have, and they are specifically for the
10 gauge plain barrel, red in color.
i'm dang sure i got 'em from cabelas, but durned
if i see 'em listed. i'm thinking it was TG93C
but i can't find a package or receipt where
i had bought 'em.
i have 'em on every plain barreled shotgun i have,
the 10's, the twelves, and the.410, but i don't
see a .410 either.

did anyone ever find the 10 gauge
snap-on fiber sight?
i've looked and not seen one.
nor have i seen a .410 one.
i know for durn sure the .410 one
came from cabela's, and i'm almost
sure the other ones did too, although
it's been 8 years + - since ( i think)
i can't imagine something like that
would just go away with no mention
of discontinued, back ordered, waiting
on new production, etc.

I sure can't find a snap-on sight for the 10 gauge, but Truglo still makes one for the .410. Just type ".410" in their search box.

I emailed Tru-Glo and the 10 gauge sight is no longer in production.

I will be posting another question.

xshare,

I have never tried it but you can buy glow in the dark sight paint.  Maybe just paint your front bead and you are good to go?  At one time Cabelas had this paint listed on their website site, not sure if it is still there.

I saw fiber optic bead sights.  I have to check and see if they will fit the thread pattern.

brownell's has about any bead of
any color, kind, or height you want.
i'm thinking they're 3-56, but one of
the more knowledgeable folks can
likely correct me, or it's most likely
in the note section too.

sorry yall missed out on the snap-on
sight biz. they're really nice. i had
thought i would come up with a j.i.c.
plan for replacing mine if i tore one up,
but i figure now i'll just cross that bridge
as it comes.
good luck.
