Engraved Receiver Handi
« on: May 26, 2012, 07:04:12 AM »
I just saw (for the first time) a Handi with the green laminated stock that has nice deer engraved on the receiver. Does anyone know if this was ever a factory offering? Thanks.

I think there may have been a whitetails forever special I'd seen once.  Not sure about whether it was engraved.

I've never seen an engraved one.

My buddy just got a lazer engraver in his shop.  He has engraved several of his wife's guns.  He has promised to engrave a couple for me, I just have not decided which one I want engraved.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

The only engraved receivers I've seen were those done by Talo on the Golden BC,  of course H&R has made many different special/limited editions over the years, maybe Brian will remember if any were done.

Does it say Jakes near the turkey, I can't tell? Could be an NWTF special edition, I've got a Jakes M9422 with a similar graphic, only no deer, just turkeys. I've seen 243 Ultra Jakes, but I don't remember any graphics.

The RMEFs were stamped, my RMEF Whelen appears to be anyway, looks just like the marking on the left side, just bigger.

If I may be allowed to quibble, the laser process is not engraving, it is etching the surface only.  Engraving is done by small cutting tools, chisel or pointed, hand or power driven, removing metal to create the desired pattern.  Hard to figure someone actually engraving a Handi, altho I have thought about doing mine, as the process is expensive.  Hard to say, but the photo looks like the gold may be plated, rather then inlayed.  Goat

Dunno what they call it, but the Jakes gun is not trully engraved, the graphics can't be felt, it's  smooth as plain blued metal, a blindfolded person wouldn't know it was even there. The markings on the RMEF are prolly roll stamped.
