remington 700 info request

I have an older remington 700, that once belonged to my father ?
it is a 7MM Mag, with a stainless barrel that has been blued. believe it is one of the first generations made.
firearms is in great shape and was his go to gun for whitetails in PA.

Casca1...The Remington 700 and 7mm mag were both first made in 1962. 

Here is a link that will lead you to a somewhat confusing table that can be deciphered to tell you the date your rifle was made based on the barrel numbers.

I bought a new 700 BDL 7mm mag in 1970...cost $120 and the ADL model could be had for $ 90.  Im biased but I consider that rifle one of the best and most accurate Remingtons Ive ever hunted with.   The stock was one of the better fitting that I have used. 

If you like to shoot you have a "gem".

 I shoot, but here in illinois not much call for the Mastadon Killer,
waiting for my 10 yr to beable to shoot it, my son carries my dad's name and he was last one to shoot it so it may sit for a little longer .

It's about like a .30-06 or .270 Winchester.  Just a deer rifle.  A very good deer rifle.
