Did anyone watch 20/20 tonight? John Stossel actually ran a piece that debunked some of the anti gun myths. Yup, ABC allowed a positive slant on firearms to air on its network! I musta dreamt it. Somebody pinch me.

My wife and I watched it. We are proud of John Stossel for being courageous enough to tell the truth.
Hope Rosie chokes on it.

Well, after going to their webpage it appears that they presented this as one common myth of ten. The other 9 not having to do with firearms.

I think the story on the webpage was sort of lack luster. It repeated the CDC study finding that gun control programs did not reduce violent crime. However, writing about states adopting liberal concealed carry laws, it said they they saw no increase in crime. If I'm not mistaken, the states that have adoopted these saw de-creases in crime. And, they failed to mention that the CDC says that, finding no evidence, they need to continue their study. Gee, you think the media would give me a pass if I got a grant from the government and, failing to prove my hypothesis in the least, I said I needed more money?

I will give them credit for writing that criminals say they could get firearms even if they were outlawed ( Let's see, despite 40 years of the "war on drugs" we have yet to stop more than 10% and we have millions of illegal people here,  gee, you think someone could get firearms into the country if they wanted too? ) and the same criminals say they fear armed citizens more than the police.

Overall I'd give it a 'C'.

Guys:

It wasn't the piece on firearms that surpriZed me...it was when he jumped into the Hudson River!  That took my breath away.

It's been a few years since I traveled that piece of waterway but...BLAH!

Not perfect but looks like a good start.  Nice to see some truth in the news.
