Rem model 7 thread size
« on: June 05, 2012, 04:08:52 AM »
Are the receiver threads on a model 7 the same size as a model 700? Trying to find a take off barrel for my 700 and wondering if model 7 barrels are an option. Thx

kmj- They are the same, in my post below (260 bbl) My son's mod. 7 is a 243 and I got the 260 bbl. mod 700 24" at a gun show and it screwed right on. The cal. ect impressions don't index on the top but I don't care. I also got a 22" 7mm/08 bbl. however it won't screw right on as the chamber needs to be .007 deeper so it will have to go to a "smith" to chamber and headspace properly . So anyway a 7 bbl. will fit but it is a crap shoot if it will headspace correctly as is. BTW there are usually lots of 700 bbl's. on gunbroker.com  good luck- Muddy
