two more Ghogs down with the 22-250
« on: May 29, 2012, 02:24:07 PM »
Today was another round of going after the elsuive matrix Ground Hog that has been dodging my bullets like Neo. I seriously closed the distance to 130yds and put on the ghillie suit for him today. Got off work, got my gear, ghillied up and pretty much set up prone in between some bean rows in a field (no other cover between 311yds and the hole). About an hour into it, a juvie hog crawls out of the brush and works his way into the field. I pop it and it does a spectacular flip in the air. About 30 minutes later, Another Juvie appears and is making a B-Line straight towards me. I whistle, It stands straight up and I put it right back down in the dirt. All of the sudden, a huge wall of dirt starts coming at me (quite windy today) and I am getting covered. I think the matrix hog has a hot line to Mother Nature, LOL. I call the hunt and policed up my kills. Im not done with you yet NEO. >:(

Good Shootin on them littler ones. I've been saving ammo this year. My Beagle Stella has picked off two of the Juvies this week ;D  She was carrying one the other day, it measured 12" head to tail. There was another laying dead by my 200 yard backstop yesterday after she was out there. I got to get busy and catch up with her ::)

Good job! That 22-250 looks like a great set-up for groundhogs, or whatever else wanders in! I've picked off #7 and #8 this week, young of the year, one with my 22-250 and one with an '02 Ford Ranger... 8) ....I think the older and wiser ones have ME patterned, may be time to switch up my approach!

A Ford Ranger....funny stuff.  They gotta eat.  Just keep at em.  I plan on setting up again this weekend in the same bean field looking for the elusive one....

What grain bullet you using in your 22-250?? I've started reloading for my P-dog soot out of Billings Mt. Last year used a .22mag on them but could only get out to 125 yards, with it. Going big time on this next trip. I'm loading 52 grain TNT at approx. 3380fps.
