Number nine.....
« on: June 11, 2012, 06:21:53 AM »
Wife sounded the alarm and son Greg was able to nail this one between buildings in the yard. Mossberg500E .410 using a Remington Slugger, no crawl-offs!

They are out and about more lately, seeing some hit in the road. Keep after 'em guys!

You fellows have got to quit posting these 410 groundhog guns. I keep telling myself I don't need one.  ;D

I'll ask you the same thing as the handi fellow that posted one up. What kind of groups can that mossberg get? Thanks

Bugflipper.....Nobody really needs a handy little .410, but everyone really should have a couple in their collection just for fun! The Mossberg seems to really like the Benneke 3" slugs the best, it'll shoot palm sized groups at 50 yards. That's with the standard Mossberg front bead and mid-barrel pin, with better sights and younger eyes, probably better. Again, most of my .410 shooting is just plinking so the cheaper bulk-pack Remington sluggers do nicely. The Brenneke 2 1/2" slugs wanted to keyhole at any range, go figure!?! YMMV

That's the problem, I have 5 already. Just doubles, none of them will group slugs worth spit at 50 yards. Could be my weak eyes and no sights to tell the truth. But I have given it a go and it's not worth pursuing with what I have. The big bore 410s have had my attention for awhile. http://www.hoeningbigboresouth.com/Big410Ballistics.html I just don't want to shell out the money when it would be a lot cheaper to just use a .444 or 45-70. But then you guys post up your neat little rigs and here it comes back.  :D  Have a good day.
