camo tape glue removal
« on: May 13, 2012, 12:04:04 PM »
I left some McNett camo tape on my shotgun barrel to long and now have a gluey mess. How do I clean the glue off?

Goo Gone. Works great for stuff like that. It'll be at hardware stores, Walmart and most grocery stores have it.

I used to call them brain farts but now I'm older and we old folks can call them senior moments. Sounds more elegant.

Dunno about Goo Gone but WD-40 is my go to for all glue removal. It is safe for bluing also. Are you SURE the other stuff is?

Since I was out of Goo Gone, I used WD-40 and it worked great. I got a nice shiny barrel again. Thanks for all the help.

Goo Gone does not bother bluing, most painted surfaces and other hardened surfaces in the least when used correctly.  It will however have an effect on some oil finishes if left in contact too long without neutralizing.  My only problem with the stuff is that I can only find it in 12oz. bottles.
