Load Tweeking Caused Fail To Eject
« on: June 05, 2012, 11:04:43 AM »
Tweeked my load for my 30-06 handi up a bit over the weekend.  Shooting a Nosler 165gr Accubond at 2800 fps.  Good load, both my old handi and my Ultra Comp shoot that load well.  I was using 58.7gr of RL-22.  Decided to move on up to 62gr of powder.  Moved up in half gr incriments, got no high pressure signs.  But at 62gr the Ultra Comp failed to eject, the first shot.  I knocked it out with a cleaning rod, then it ejected the next two.  Set it aside to cool, then on second time again failed to eject first shot.  Second and third shot ejected properly.  My old Handi ejected fine with all of them.

Just experimenting, nice to know they will handle the higher load with no pressure signs.  But will drop back to the 58.7gr of RL-22  That is what the Tactical scope on the Ultra is calibrated for anyway.

BTW- Did get flattened primers with old Handi at 62.5gr of RL-22.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Thats been my experiance as well,  all of my handis are ejectors and the ones chambered in bottlenecked rounds start sticking cases when you load to hot.
