adc guys

Going to do some beaver trapping in a couple weeks, two ponds about Ten acres each, no dams. A couple lodges and bank dens. Some very deep runs, and possibly some educated beaver. What kind of lure do you guys like to use in summer time? Any hot weather tips from you beaver guys? I'm personally not a big fan of trapping in the summer but need to get this done.

Beaver are attracted to castor at almost any time. I have adc customers castor mounding their problem beaver any time there is open water. THEY ARE STILL SUPER TERRITORIAL--NO MATTER WHAT TIME OF YEAR IT IS.
some will argue this point with me--but then ,I am a bit hard of hearing.
Go in set up heavy and reap the results. I hope you are being --well paid.

I agree with Tom, territorial is ingrained in a beaver's instincts regardless of what time of year it is. Get some of Tom's noted Moundmaster lure and go get 'em!

Asa and Tom are right on castor.  If you catch some and know one or some are still there , go with blind sets or a set  like you would for castor but no mound, no  popular bait or what ever you WERE using and use just   a drop of  oil sac oil.  When i say a drop , i mean just one drop  approximately back about two feed fm edge of water and trap.

I agree with all posted above. When initially setting up a beaver job, at any time of year, I will set castor mounds where I want to catch the beaver. Generally, that approach is all I need to take care of most typical nuisance situations. Occasionally, if they have been played with, other tactics must be employed, as mentioned.

Thanks guys, should go smooth, so long as the water snakes leave me alone LOL. I know the land owner had a kid in there trapping in the spring and he caught two, so there is a good chance there could be some shy ones. I've never really trapped during summer time, at least not beaver.

Lee: They have those Missaugua (spelling?) rattlers a few places in the lower peninsula but I've never heard of any here in the U.P., at least in my area. A few miles in the U.P. can make a difference though, they have big pine snakes just 30 miles from me but I've never seen on here.
