uberti cattleman
« on: January 15, 2013, 03:45:18 PM »

  hi fellows .

last year i had a house fire . and a friend did an awful lot to help me out , he gave me a place to stay for over a month , let me use his car for two weeks while i was looking for a replacement for mine and worked like a rented mule helping me get my house back in shape . and he did all that and more with a smile  not expecting a thing in return

so needless to say i owe him a huge debt of gratitude for everything . and as a small token of apreceation  i thought i'd buy him something every guy likes a new to him firearm .

i found a  as new uberti cattleman for sale localy and im going friday after work to check it out .
and i was just hopeing to get some feed back on them as i havent ever even picked one up to handle let alone shoot .

its nothing fancy  , just a plain jane matte finished   hombre  with a 4 3/4  barrel

I have had for some years, and several friends here too, the Cabela's version of that in their 'Millenium' revolver. We tend to shoot cast bullet loads, and somewhat reduced, but the durn things have held up well and are doing duty, so I say go for it. Ours shoot fair close to the sights and mine has been stripped of the matte finish (came off easy enough), degreased and and some cold blue cream rubbed in and it kinda looks like an old. well worn orig. on the cheap. As my friend Jon said, these are a gun you can carry and not have to worry about how much damage may happen iffn it gets under a horse.

well christmas came a bit early today .

the fellow with the uberti was able to meet me today instead of friday .
all and all im pretty pleased with it . it feels like a nice solid work horse .

the price was right @ $350  as near as i can tell its as new in the box just like the gentleman said .
timing looks to be spot on with nice tight lock up, if there is any end shake i cant feel it .
the trigger isnt bad, not to stiff ( 5-6lbs maybe)  with just a wee bit of a gritty feel .
the matte finish could leave a bit to be desired if you was inclined to like thing purty .

i realy dont see how a fella could go wrong with it .. i cant wait to see how it shoots ..  i might just have to find another one for myself

Good price. A decent smith can help that trigger without to much expense. I have the "El Patron" model in .45. that cost me $500 new. My first five shots right out of the box with 230 grain Mag Techs came out to 2.5" at 50ft POA. Hard to beat that! Plus a very nice looking firearm. Might just have to get one for yourself now. They are a hoot to shoot.

oh it went just great  .... he was very very happy with it ...  i almost thought i was gonna see a grown man cry .

the revolver  shoots pretty  good ... with my 250 grain semi wadcutter  and 7 grains of unique  it shot fairly close to point of aim at 25 yds .
acuracy was ok ..  i think it will be better then ok  with a lil bit of load development .

all in all i cant find a single reason to be displeased with the uberti ...  im going to find one for myself now

IIRC my Millenium shoots heavier loads than that better, but I am always the weakest link........
