Yes Dave29 it is a very nice set up. I have it covered from wee varmints to to the biggest game in North America and every thing between. I have given a 30-06 some serious thought to cover the gap between the 30-30 and 444, but do not know if it will happen. there is nothing in my state that I can hunt with a 30-30 or 444 let alone a 30-06. An all Stainless Steel 30-06 would be very tempting, even if I do not have a "use" for it. My wife thinks my "Ultras" are the best looking rifles I own and I own a few, most are customized one way or another. The 223 Ultra is my Avatar.

Still swapping the .30-30 and the .45/70 onto one receiver, will change that when money tree grows more money.

I was going to set up a switch barrel setup with my 30-30 putting on a 223 and 20 gauge barrel but the more I read on the subject the more I want to find another reciever.  Found a used handi in 280 for a donor receiver.  Going to put a 223 barrel on the new receiver and keep the 30-30/20 gauge combo I already put together.  I guess that makes me knda a swapper.

I am a switcher. I had so many 'dedicated' rifles/shotguns that saw very limited use and I saw no reason to continue that. I've always been a single shot kinda guy so I chose that route. Why not one frame and stock with a barrel for my uses and sell off my 'dedicated' guns to finance my new adventure. That and I'm not getting any younger.  I have, as I said one SB2 frame, one green laminated thumbhole stock/forearm, and 4 fitted barrels ( a Ruger 204, a 22-250, a 30-06, and a 20ga rifled barrel). Those 4 barrels cover all my needs except goose hunting. I have no accuracy problems with any of the barrels.

Hey Doc,

How about a "poll" on rimmed versus rimless?  Naaah, no point as I doubt anyone around here cares one way or the other. ::)

I'm a swapper , WHY ? because I'm a cheap SOB , I have a bunch of extra shotgun barrels but can't see spending the extra money ( with FFL fees ) to buy & ship the extra SB-1 frames that I need , not when I can buy the whole gun for around the same price .

5 calibers, two receivers, and three fore ends yup I'm a switcher, but each receiver and barrel combo is tried and foreends swapped to find the best accuracy so I have two switch barrel sets.
keep em talkin' while I reload

I'ma one receiver guy.....that is I only have one barrel so far ;) , but I'm thinking of adding a 20guage barrel to it and possibly either the muzzle loader or another rifle caliber to it.

I have a whole lot more barrels than I do frames, but I only put certain barrels on certain frames since they lock up and shoot better on those frames.  I also have a couple of frames that I only use one (dedicated) barrel on.  So I guess you can put me down as a "dedicated switcher". ::)

I was not going to jump in here but why not!  I am both.  I have a deicated receiver with a 30-30 on it and another in my .45 colt carbine.  My switch is a .223 w/receiver and a 7-08 barrel fitted to it.  My thinking was that I likely would not use a .223 and a 7-08 at the same time.  The 30-30 is my go-to gun so that needs to be always ready.  I'm thinking of a 30-06 also for the .223 frame.  It's a keeper with the number 223322.  Now, there's just got to be some magic with a number like that!  (I'm a sucker for repeating serial numbers).  44 Man
