Anybody use a thumbhole stock on their Sportster?
« on: May 13, 2012, 03:56:24 AM »
Well, I found out that the Boyds laminate thumbhole stocks will fit the sportster.  Just wondered if anybody here is using a thumbhole stock on any of their sportsters.  If so, how do you like them?  I've never shot a thumhole stock on any rifle, so was just wondering.

While I don't own a sportster I do shoot an Encore rifle with a thumbhole stock. It puts your wrist in a more upright natural position, like shooting a pistol. I absolutely love mine.

I have a Handi grip stock on one also used a Survivor stock @one time. Most folks either love them or hate them. I had one once that I really liked but it was a little long and could not bring myself to cut it. Then found the Boyds roll over cheek model and the the Stinger model and liked those better. Kurt

To answer the "will it fit" question YES!

All butt stocks are interchangeable with all guns, going back over 30 years. (Guns with tang barrel release or with a tang at all are different.) Some offends will not interchange because of the barrel channel but the but stocks all will.

One thing also to know, NOT all stocks use the same mounting bolts!!  So you need to keep bolts with stocks they came from.

Good luck,
